Katchafire Release Single & Australian Tour with Mike Love Sensimillia from Revival 2.0 Guest Edition Album is Out Now
“Around that time, came Katchafire out of Aotearoa, and I remember them hitting the islands like a storm with heavy roots feel and beautiful, lush harmonies. The album Revival was on heavy rotation on our local radio, with basically every song on it sounding like it could be a single. Me and everyone I knew were captured by their unique yet familiar sound.” – Mike Love
Katchafire’s next Guest Edition single is a collaboration on their Sensimilla single with Hawaii’s Mike Love, who will also be joining the band on their 2026 Australian Tour. Sensimillia with Mike Love lands today (August 7), and the Australian tour runs for five weeks in October and November (Dates & venues below). Limited early bird tickets for the Australian tour are on sale now.
The forthcoming Revival 2.0 Guest Edition album is out November 27.
Speaking about the upcoming collaboration and Australian Tour, Mike Love said "In Hawai’i in the mid-2000s we had a beautiful and thriving roots reggae scene. There was so much inspiration coming from so many places in the world and we had our own underground sound that we had cultivated, with countless talented groups and musicians. Around that time, came Katchafire out of Aotearoa, and I remember them hitting the islands like a storm with heavy roots feel and beautiful, lush harmonies. The album Revival was on heavy rotation on our local radio, with basically every song on it sounding like it could be a single. Me and everyone I knew were captured by their unique yet familiar sound.
To be asked to be a part of the reimagining of that album that had such an impact on our scene in O’ahu was a great, great honour. I did my best to do the song Sensimillia justice, but to be honest, filling the shoes of brother Logan on the vocals was not an easy task. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you Love it too. I Love this band and I’m really excited for everyone to hear all the different versions of the tunes and to hit the road with them across Australia in support of the release."
Fans catching the Australian dates will get a full night of Love - before Katchafire takes the stage, Mike will open each show with his own solo set, a powerful one-man-band performance built entirely live. Armed with guitar, keyboard, melodica and a pedalboard loaded with loopers, he layers bass lines, beatboxed rhythms and harmonies in real time, with nothing pre-recorded. His sound reaches beyond roots reggae too - folding in rock, soul, blues, folk and hip hop into what he calls his own "revolutionary consciousness music." Off the back of his 2025 album Teachers, and with 250-plus shows a year under his belt through his own label, Love Not War Records, Mike brings a genuine, genre-blurring solo show that sets the tone for the night before the band takes over.
Katchafire also have shows in New Zealand this month, then will tour the USA in September, with dates across California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Special guest Jordan T joins for the first week before the band supports J-Boog for a run of seriously irie shows. (Dates & venues below).
The Revival 2.0 Guest Edition album unites roots and reggae voices from across the globe, with more iconic collaborations to come before the album drops in November.
Katchafire integrate vibrant reggae rhythms with Māori influences, producing a distinctive sound that has achieved international recognition. Over the past twenty-five years, the group has served as prominent advocates for Māori music and Pacific reggae, consistently releasing tracks that underscore themes of family, unity, and cultural pride. Their dedication is evident in both their impactful melodies and dynamic live performances, resulting in music that has received positive acclaim from audiences worldwide.

“After three decades of collaborating with some of the best in the business, Katchafire are back with a special album. First released in 2003, Revival showcased the band’s easy-listening roots reggae, nodding to R&B and jazz through comprehensive instrumentals and soulful vocals, putting forward a fresh sound that appealed to New Zealand listeners.
It was the debut album that marked the beginning of a decades-long journey for Katchafire, who show no signs of slowing down with the band now spanning across three generations of whānau.
The record was certified platinum within a few months and went on to have a resurgence two decades later, re-entering the charts in 2023 and ranking among Aotearoa’s top 10 most popular albums by New Zealand artists that year. The popularity of Revival has also remained strong not just with Kiwi audiences but with fans around the world.” – Rolling Stone Magazine, 18 May 2026
